What to do in Downtown Niles...Niles French Market, Arts in Motion, Movies in the Park, Free Concerts, Downtown Trick or Treat, Holiday Homecoming, & so much more

Explain the Logo...
The Niles Main Street District is undergoing significant change and has made great strides in restoring the downtown to its original grandeur. After being hidden under a bland facade of sheet metal for many years the unique architecture has been fully restored, concrete sidewalks have been replaced with beautiful brickwork, and new benches, lamps, trash cans and water fountains are in place. In addition to these great achievements, the Niles Main Street District now has a logo and tag line that coherently reflect the unique experience provided by this downtown in motion.

LOGO SYMBOLISM

The number three is very important to the Niles Main Street Disrict logo. Formally, the symbol is composed of three abstract shapes that visually reference the unique architecture of the three-story buildings located downtown. The three shapes also symbolize the three main areas of the district - the river, the park and the downtown and color is used purposefully to reinforce this concept. The illustration style is purposefully “loose” and immediately suggests motion, history and art. The curved line that is located beneath the symbol represents the distinctive hill that downtown Niles is built upon and much of the beautiful streetscape work that is found within the flower beds and brickwork. Finally, a modern sans-serif typeface was selected to give the entire signature a contemporary and boutique feel while simultaneously retaining a timeless quality.
